4chan vs 8chan - TEA CHATS [#002]

there is no such thing as too much free speech. you see on these chans, although you can say whatever you like, there is a sort of culture, and if someone says something that doesn't fit in with that culture, they will be remarked upon rudely. because of this, even if there were complete free speech, the culture of the society would dictate unwritten laws with it's own punishments. this is one argument for why anarchy could work. also, on the topic of 4chan or 8chan, I'm an 8channer, but it's really only because 4chan permabanned me.

The "barely legal" message broad of 8chan is disgusting. Your right in saying it's not CP but it defo sexualises children. I think in terms of "erotica" material on 8chan, they should moderate it alot more then they currently do.

 How free is too free?

Depends on the concept of free within free speech. I personally think that by utilising your own free speech to limit someone elses free speech then the freedom has become too free. On the other hand, you should never say that being free and free to say free things is inhibiting someone else's freedom just because you don't agree with their opinions. Since, after all, if we consider all speech about a topic to contain biase then their opinion is just as valid as yours despite the fact that the biased is present in their own opinion does not mean you can limit what they say. Despite the views being different or offensive from your own. Regarding message board themes I think anything illegal is a no go, anything else is fine

I forgot to mention why I chose 8chan over 4chan. It's kind of a "lesser-of-two-evils" situation. I don't like the way 4chan handled Gamergate, because while there is a lot of hatred in the movement they might actually have some validity to it (again, I'm not very familiar with Gamergate, so I might be wrong). Censorship is not the way to go. But I believe 8chan is a bit too liberal with the way they handle things. When faced with a choice between censorship and too much freedom, I'd rather go the too much freedom route, hence why I decided full-chan was the winner in this situation.
