Its funny at the beginning of the video you mentioned you thought it might be an axle, since it wouldn't hold in park. Reminds me of a recent car I did.
I had a 2006 e350 4matic come in for the balance shaft, and I took the whole drivetrain out as an assembly, then put the engine on a stand to do the timing chain/balance shaft. once I put it all back in the car, I took it to go get lunch. Then I brought it back in to lift it and make sure I had no leaks. After that, I went to pull out of the bay door, and as I turned to the right, I heard a pop POP BANG, and it just revved. So we towed it back inside with the forklift, and lifted it to find the driver front axle snapped inside the cv joint in the spindle. Luckily Her extended warranty covered it. It was crazy that I had been on a long test drive, then that little sharp turn out of the shop did a number on the joint. -
Hi Gary, really enjoy your vids and honesty.I have a problem with a Mercedes A class 210 amg (2003 automatic).Mercedes tell me I need a new transmission. .and engine.I find it hard to believe as my weekend car takes me up and down mountains like this for the last 2years.It starts in F mode usually in 4th gear or sometimes 2nd.Couple a times a week it start fine and gears fine a couple of hours then back into F mode.I just turn off/on at speed to get 4th gear etc.Any ideas that wont cost a fortune? thanks for the videos.
