A Magazine Is an iPad That Does Not Work.m4v

Technology codes our minds, changes our OS. Apple products have done this extensively. The video shows how magazines are now useless and impossible to understand, for digital natives. It shows real life clip of a 1-year old, growing among touch screens and print. And how the latter becomes irrelevant. Medium is message. Humble tribute to Steve Jobs, by the most important person : a baby.

I think you're over-stating your case, based on one example. The video does not so much show 'how magazines are now useless and impossible to understand, for digital natives' as 'a baby who has spent more time in front of iPads than magazines'

Teach your child the difference between a iPad and a magazine PLEASE

Not Steve Jobs had done it, you had done this. It's common sense not to let play toddlers with screens. Their brains will not develop right. This is not just a hypothesis, neurologists and other scientists proved this. There are already studies and investigations about this.

"This young generation is lost," said some elder thousands of years ago. We've been repeating itever since, at least once we hit a certain age. Because the only youths we idealize were our youthful selves.
-
Well, this is just wrong. As a parent of a toddler who has never used any sort of smart device, he reacts to books and magazines in precisely the same way; he pushes, prods, presses, and pokes the pictures just like this toddler. You've drawn completely the wrong conclusion here.

dumb video.
-
she's turning the pages- job done- I guess she can't read so what more do you want?
-
New generations will be so stupid. The end of the world is near.

Am I the only one who thinks people are overreacting to this? It's a baby being exposed to something new. If they have more time with the new thing, they'll learn how it works. Way back when, people used to freak out about how books were fundamentally changing human interaction and keeping us from talking with one another. Books! A few generations from now, the elderly will be ranting about virtual reality causing the death of society, and oh, why can't we all just go back to tablets? Tablets were so much more WHOLESOME!

If you're not responsible enough to get your 1 year old away from adults technologies its far from being steve jobs fault. This video just make you one of the worst parents ever for putting an ipad between a baby's hands at the earliest of her cognitive developpement.
-
I thought you give toddlers toys like a rattle but an IPad is the last thing I expect a toddler to be playing with.

Your daughter will have major learning disablilities later on. She will blame you for this. And if you are american she will drag u infront of a jury. =)

This video is tragic. But even more upsetting is the mother's sense of hopelessness. Her statement that Steve Jobs is responsible for the baby's lack of experience with print material. The only way a baby learns to use a magazine or an iPad is if it is modelled by the parent. Parents have a choice. It is recommended by the American Paediatric Society that children under 2 should have no screen time. A young child's best toy is their parents. No electronic will ever replace this or result in appropriate language development.

This isn't funny, I'm not blaming Steve jobs for introducing the iPad, I'm blaming the fact that someone would raise a child with the idea that technology is more important than reading a real book
-
I believe this is a part of the evolution. It is just like people in ancient times would be shocked to see us reading printed books. :)

I love seeing all these tech nuts comment on social development yeah you can write code and program a computer but how are your problem solving skills and social etiquette you need to know the difference between a video game and real life, how much of that software is for education because I see kids in the U.S. Falling Behind in math and science.Social media taking the place of SOCIALIZATION and going outside to play is punishment, It was just the opposite when I was a kid.Enjoy your cup of insomnia.

My cousin knew the password to her iPad at three... That was before she knew how to spell. She also knew how to install apps, delete them, watched many YouTube videos, and due to some of the more mature content, she swears quite often. Later on when she started going to school, she swore there and even bit other kids.

Bueno, a esta peque le han enseñado pocos cuentos....
there's nothing wrong here, same as people who knows how to use a keypad phone but not a rotary dial phone, unless you think it's a problem not knowing how to use a rotary phone.
