True positional audio headset by Asus, this headset gives you a true life-like experience in games by producing true positional audio (surround) with 10 speakers in the headset. It comes with its own soundcard and connects via USB, so it's suitable for any machine that has USB, plug and play and has support for 7.1 speaker system in case you want to switch between speakers and headset with press of a button on the control unit. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VIRTUAL SURROUND AND TRUE POSITIONAL AUDIO: - Virtual surround creates echo effect on the sounds that are suppose to be behind you, so it just echos and feels like you are surrounded by the sound. So if someone is behind you in the game, you won't be able to hear the position of audio, you just hear the sound having echo to it, once you get used to that echo, you are able to tell sound is behind, but you do not hear the location of audio. Also when talking on skype, teamspeak ..etc everything has ECHO to it, makes it very stupid. - True positional audio - it uses 3 or more speakers on each side to position the source of audio, so if sound is behind you, then it actually IS behind you, just like in real life, if your mom sneaks up on you and says "HELLO" then you startle and turn around, because you heard voice behind you. I'm disappointed in the audio quality and bass, but surround is unbeatable. I previously had Razer Tiamat 7.1 which also had 10 speakers, but Tiamat speakers were too close together and did not produce that good surround, while STRIX really produces that awesome surround that you hear in real life when for example car passes you by on highway, STRIX can re-produce exactly that. If any of you dumbasses think that you don't need 10 speakers for that, you're literally stupid and need to go back into 1st grade and learn how audio works ... or well that won't help, because you're handicapped. it's common sense on how audio works. Each speaker plays audio in different location and human ear will hear which direction the sound is coming from. If you have never owned a true positional audio headset, DO NOT comment, just shut the F up, buy the headset first, test it out in games that support 3D audio and then talk. I've had virtual surround headsets, Tiamat 7.1 with true positional audio and now this, i can clear tell the difference between all of those headsets. True positional audio does not even compare to virtual surround. True positional audio is exactly what it says, it's just like real life, you hear the position of audio. Anyway, watch the video and see my thought about it. I said that bass is problematic, well fix for that would be to replace the earcups or cut them open, stuff some new material in them to make them more firm and sew it back up, you should not be doing this to a 180eur headset, but there's no such thing as perfect headset. Tiamat has comfort issues, it grips too hard around your head and makes entire head hurt, so i had to put some cloth between the top (seen on video). Anyway, all that said, i strongly recommend this headset to any professional gamer who would like to experience true life-like positional audio. CSGO players will make good use of this, you can hear every footstep and reload sound with high precision, you only need a small click or step to know the exact position of audio.
