This country is hopelessly in debt, and can't afford to "invest" in anything, at all. Also, you're still hung up on the government creating jobs. What about all the private sector jobs that are lost or never created because of high taxes? You see, high taxes take capital from where it would be used productively, and give it to government to be squandered. Governments are incapable of investing. They don't care about making profits, and they don't care about the losses. All they can do is spend.
-
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. You see, your comment lacks any shred of logic whatsoever. So just answer this question: how do higher taxes make employers want to hire more people?
-
The Soviet Union did have zero unemployment because everyone worked for the government doing nothing productive. I can't even believe you believe in the stupidity of your argument. High taxes and regulations create jobs? Making hiring people more risky and expensive is not going to create jobs. That is such an idiotic implication. Remember, correlation does not imply causation, and not all jobs are created equal anyway.
-
4.4 trillion debt? You haven't looked at that number in awhile. The government cannot create productive jobs because governments don't produce anything. The Soviet Union had zero unemployment, but eight hour bread lines because everyone worked for the government. Regardless, You're wrong. Clinton did deregulate and cut taxes in 1997. Also, you don't understand how huge of a role monetary policy played into all this though. The 2001 recession was caused by monetary policy during the Clinton era.

Plus, as mentioned before, Obama had his chance to pass jobs bills. Instead he passed a terrible healthcare bill which is a threat to jobs. Face it, Obama is a terrible leader.
-
They started their term in 07. A problem with the jobs bill is that it is Obama throwing more money around which is what is a threat to the economy to begin with. What will help the economy is allow investors to invest, not the government throwing money around. When the government does that it lowers the value of the dollar and prices go up. What helps the economy is reducing the price of goods and services, not increasing money.
-
Many parts of the bill have been in place for a few years. Since I'm under 26 I could choose to be on my parents plan, as many young adults can do. But since I have a good job that offers good benefits and don't live with my parents, I chose to get my own plan. My premium went from $49/month to $94/month from my employer. I understand that Obamacare isn't the only factor in raising premiums, but it is a big one.
-
how did your premiums already double even though the bill hasn't been activated yet?
-
cos the money has to go towards megacorps
-
Not much better than what it was before. Health ins. premiums nearly double for me but since I'm single it's still affordable. It hurts the middle class but helps the poor, a little. We need a plan that helps both the middle class and poor and let the rich corporations pay for it. Single Payer is the best option imo.

half assed is better than none at all.

One, I don't watch fox news, but nice try though. Two, if you want to play your little game things were fine until the democrats took control in 2007. Since then we have been a mess. Republicans are not passing bills that won't help the country at all simply because Obama is a terrible leader.
-
Spending in science research went up under Bush. There were spending cuts under Clinton and smart investment thanks to him being a great leader and working well with Newt and a republican congress. Things were fine under Bush. People forget that within a few months under his leadership 9/11 happen and we didn't fall apart as a country. Enter Obama, poor leader, threat of high taxes and regulations and no job creation and a poor economy.
-
Other countries are also less dependent, myopic and more fascist then us. If you want socialize healthcare then fine, just live a lifestyle where you have little say in what you do. Oh, and develop stricter immigration laws, developing a melting would cause too much of a challenge.
-
Texas also has a huge immigration situation to deal with. Kind of happens when you border another country. Many factors affect healthcare cost.
-
Kinda like the way Republican's abuse words like "liberal", "socialist", "atheist", "equality", "freedom", "patriotic", "rights"....and on and on. Well, actually, nothing like that. "Anti" isn't being abused in any such way (here).
-
Yea, I'll burn my card, I'll pray to yehosua too....
-
@ALHARVEYify Many states have aggressive tort reform which has reduced the number of lawsuits. In Texas, many law firms will not take malpractice cases anymore because of the limitations of rewards. It isn't worth the time or money. While malpractice cases have all but disappeared the cost of health care in Texas is still sky high. In fact since tort reform was implemented health care costs in Texas have increased four times as fast as inflation. The reason: uninsured people using the system.
-
the idea behind burning the card is kind of voodoo
-
What a joke!!! Effects you obama your bringing ALL COUNTRIES DOWN
