Russia uses daylight saving time...
-
Maybe just shift people's work times, instead of moving the clock around?
-
I believe Indiana doesn't do DST, either. I believe the theory is it's a farming state, and farmers don't pay attention to the clock, they pay attention to the sun, so it doesn't matter what the clock says, if the suns up, it's time to get working.
-
No one really likes to get up an hour early just catch an extra hour of sunlight, just to have to bed early and do the same thing the next day. The body clock doesn't work that way. In fact it puts stress on the body. That is why you feel tired at the end of the day because you didn't get full rest period.
-
It is not really manditory except for people who work. We don 't have to go by it.
-
says that that most of aus uses dst, goes on to say that half the states don't
-
Traditionally, DST would be 6 months long. Good Ol' GWB (of WMD fame) started DST one month earlier and ended it one month later. That's DST for 8 months for something of questionable benefit and only 4 months of true time. Thank GW for another failure.
-
If it worked about saving energy it would be different but it doesn't.
-
This video explains the logistics of Daylight Saving, but does not mention the harm caused by this interference with the clocks twice every year.
-
I'm from Brazil and always thought DST was one of the most useless things we must do to hassle our lives during almost half an year. It's great when I see the news saying we saved 1% on electricity bills thanks to last DST -_-
-
I participate in this strange clock fiddling and it still baffles me. I only do it because if I don't then everything on my schedule moves back an hour and I would accomplish nothing
-
@3:35 In europe we do it better, taking and adding the hour on the night from saturday to sunday.
-
At 0:58, it should be "Every day," not "Everyday." "Everyday" is an adjective, while "Every day" is an adverb. For example, brushing one's teeth is an everyday procedure; one brushes one's teeth every day.
-
5:36 Xzibit reference! LOL
-
Watching this b/c I slept almost till 5pm today and have no energy... I want the sun back!!
-
This is why people doing business internationally often use GMT to keep shit simple

I hate it that some religions are pandered to and adherents are allowed not to eat or drink during daylight hours and yet they hold responsible jobs where rational decisions have to be made... these same types are allowed to break off in hospital operations to pray, and are allowed not to wear sterile hair coverings but can keep their non sterile religious clothes on instead for fears of accusing people of being racist for suggesting that they should follow the guidelines which apply to everyone else.
One can always tell where Nazi-Central is - it is not diverse enough. -
Ahhh! Ben Fisher
-
most of Australia uses DST, except for half of the states.
-
excellent explanation, thanks!
