A quick tutorial on the basics of the wave scanner in Elite: Dangerous Horizons. Hope it's useful! I've added another video which shows what a ship signal looks like, which can be found here: https://youtu.be/j01TdTXqR_Y

So, ummm, what do you do with the Outcrop, then???
-
A little late in joining the game, but thank you. :)

Brilliant explanation, just what I needed.

I'm not taking advice from a wanted scum.

Ditto to what Whispers said. One request? Could you go through the controls a bit including with that an explanation of how you got the targeting to target?
For instance, I wasn't able to figure out how to use the turret until I facerolled the keyboard. From there I discovered U for Turret Mode. That's 'helpful' but overall slightly less so than if I knew precisely what the buttons where and what to do with all this.
Another example... I'm trying to learn to do Synthesis right now. So far I have managed to chase around sounds on the wave scanner with the distinct feeling that to my scanner I'm someone on a mushroom trip and its the sober person trying to find their keys before a real disaster starts. -
Very helpful, thank you.

Does anyone here know the wave signature of metallic meteorites?
I've only found one of those so far, unfortunately there were some Outcrops interfering so I don't know what it looks like other than it emitting a bright line on the bottom of the scanner similar to a Mesosiderite.
It's a pain in the ass to find rare materials like Technetium, Arsenic etc. when 90% of Outcrops are made out Iron and Nickel, and the adjacent Mesosiderites shit out endless amounts of Manganese and Vanadium.
That metallic meteorite however contained not only 2 grains of Niobium but also the only speck of Tellurium I've encountered so far, so I suppose those meteorites are where its at. -
Nice video thank you for the information. This game just keeps getting better doesn't it.

Thank you for this! Excellent video.

OMG what do you do next? Can you mine that outcrop? What is it? Do you need a prospector limpet? How do you mine it?
-
Can you do anything with these outcrops?

Thanks for this video this was very helpful as I had no clue how the scanner worked!
