Fracking explained: opportunity or danger

Fracking explained in five minutes. Fracking is a controversial topic. On the one side the gas drilling companies, on the other citizen opposed to this drilling method. Politicians are also divided on the matter. We try to take a neutral look on fracking. It is relevant for all of us, because of high prices for energy and the danger for our drinking water. This video focuses mostly on the debate currently ongoing in europe. In a lot of european countries there is a public outcry against fracking, espacially in germany. But the facts in this video are relevant to all of us. Short videos, explaining things. For example Evolution, the Universe, Stock Market or controversial topics like Fracking. Because we love science. We would love to interact more with you, our viewers to figure out what topics you want to see. organisms in the harshest environments on the planet can survive because the single most essential resource is given to them. humans, though thought of as the most dominant species on the planet, are indeed quite fragile. the point is, water giveth and water taketh away any source of life that has ever existed. with the way energy technology is retarded due to governments and corporations, the most precious commodity is water. without it bothing lives

you could ban this for safety and wait until we research a better way of energy production /storage

My science teacher used this video. I was going to say that she should use it more and that I watch it but I didn't. I thought it would be weird. lol

Fracking explained in in 1 second: oil in our water

We are fucked...
-
How well would fracking work if they only used water and sand? If it were still effective, then that would be a viable compromise.
-
No point in having this fucking shit. There are already ways that are ten times better and more perfected. Example solar, wind, nuclear which has no pollution except nuclear waste but it's often used medically. Nuclear I think is also the better option.

What about the side effect of earth quakes?

if gas run out do that mean no more cars or no more factory's because there are electric cars so we are in head and energy when have solar panels to collect energy so we going to be alright

This video doesn't mention the terrible effects on wildlife, victims of pancreatic and brain cancers, victims of brain lesions, silencing of victims using non-disclosure contracts, contamination and flammability of tap water from local wells, detonation of some of those wells and subsequent damage, devaluation of land owned by American citizens who were not fully informed of the risks before signing a leasing contract, victims of contaminated water that received a water purification system from their fracking company in exchange for a non-disclosure contract where the water purification system was not able to treat the water thus still causing health detriments to the victims, leaking of VOCs from condensate tanks into cities and the environment, victims of asthma attacks and neurological problems due to these VOCs, exemption from the clean water act, or suppression of investigations (including from the EPA) by corporate interests.
-
Something this video does not acknowledge, however, is that all recorded cases of contamination are due to surface spilling. While this is still because of negligence and carelessness, there has not been a single recorded case of fluid leaking from a formation and into a water supply (as the animation from the video portrays it). Reservoir formations occur on average at a depth of 4,000 ft to 12,000 ft, while the water table can be anywhere between 75 and 400 ft deep, depending on your region.

that is so fracking cool (-;

Thorium nuclear power plant are the way

"But in the face of widespread concern about water contamination, 21 US states have adopted mandatory disclosure rules for the mixtures, making it easier for scientists such as Ellis, of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, to assess their impacts."
"Even in states with disclosure laws, companies can omit information in the interests of protecting intellectual property. For example, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, based in Irving, Texas, declined to list the components of a gelling agent — used to help to suspend sand in water — at one of its wells in Wyoming, calling the information a “trade secret”."

What is the point of this when we have solar and hydro power, with virtually no risks?
-
What the frack?

stupid fcking americunts

Okay, so we are fucked.
Fracking contaminates the freshwater supply.
Fracking releases methane gas into the atmosphere, contributing to global climate change.
We demand lower energy costs.
We have a big population, and everyone requires energy in this electricity-powered world.
So, we should seek alternative, cleaner ways to source fuel.
Perhaps, we should all switch to geothermal energy, solar energy, and wind power energy. -
several hundred meters is understating the depth to an uneducated person.
