Hey guys, in this video i discuss what input lag is, and why having gaming monitor with a low input lag is very important and can make a noticeable difference in your gaming performance, especially in first person shooters. I compare my asus vx238h to my 52" Sony Bravia HDTV. Great video, this has helped me decide to buy a monitor for my ps4.
-
do both have the same graphics? or do they look better on TV?

To make life simple. A monitor gives some extra frames unlike the TV

I use my PS4 on my PC monitor through HDMI to VGA adapter, it works great and the image is better (colors etc.) than when I tested it on my 4K LG tv, and it kept lagging with certain camera movements for some reasons. Any idea what's causing it? It wasn't a one time thing, it's consistent. The refresh rate isn't even close to how smooth it looks on my monitor, with the image leaving trails behind. You think it's got something to do with that?

This is at least one reason why hardcore gaming has moved to PCs. Because, frankly, you're going to need a PC monitor to play games well these days anyway. And if you have to hook up your console right next to your computer, doesn't that kind of defeat the whole point of having a console over just playing games on your computer? The days of having a good gaming experience on your television ended with CRTs. On a good computer monitor, you won't really notice a lot of input lag, but if you try to play games on a modern TV... a lot of TVs have lag that's above 16ms and thus very noticeable. And that Sony is pretty good for a TV, too. 20ms is about as good as you can do without going to a monitor... your average TV is going to be more like 30-40ms even with game mode enabled, and at that rate, even Super Mario World is tough to play. If I'm frustrated trying to play my old SNES games on modern TVs, I can only imagine how it is for people who played fighting games or FPS stuff that's extra sensitive to timing. I'm glad I kept my CRT for the SNES.

Anyone know what game he's playing?

It's just me(maybe i have played on tvs for too long) but i can't see the difference in ms. The monitor surely has the speed advantage but i can't see the difference because you have to feel it.

Wait, do I need the lowest input lag, or lowest response time, to aim quicker? or are the the same thing lol
-
I buy a monitor asus mx27uq for first time in my life and I am very happy with choice!!!Everything is perfect in this monitor, input-lag,black,colors!
-
wait it's that a mark in the center of the left screen for better centring in first person shooter games OMG it's not a bad idea if you play with snipers tho
