Getting Airplay video to work on XBMC under IOS 7?

UPDATED June 2014. This has been resolved in XBMC 13 onwards. Tested on OE 4.0.4. This seems too simple to be true but I spent an hour trying different configurations today with three separate instances on OpenELEC running on Raspberry Pi's and a simple reboot of my iPad worked every single time. See my addition to the OpenELEC forums here http://goo.gl/XhX8IT.

Worked a treat, how random

same thing for me. BUT! ...this shouldn't be the way to do it! Is there a way to get it to work every time I start it?

THANKS A MILLION!

Hmm, strange!
Thanks for this video! It would definitely not have been the first thing for me to try.
Enabled AirPlay on my OpenElec box, then after restarting my iPhone 4s, the icon switched instantly to a monitor. -
Worked perfect on my mini 2. Also you can reboot your ios device faster by just holding the power and home button for about 8 seconds to perform a reboot :)

Hi, try putting it on airplane mode for 20sec then back on again airplay video should come up, just saves you time from rebooting your device again and again.

It works! THX for advice :)

Worked just fine on my XBMC PIVOS Linux distro as well, speedster latest image !

Seems not so reliable at home with my XBMC instance on ATV2 running Gotham Alpha. Changing the hostname on the ATV2 and then rebooting the iPad (after closing all apps) gets it working every time but after the iPad sleeps, drops back to audio only. Back to the drawing board?
