How does it really work? Does it extinguish a sun then just sit in eternal darkness? Can it move from star system to star system? Can it enter hyperspace? How did it instantly destroy the Hosnian system? How does it contain its power without exploding? How was it destroyed? Not to mention the comparisons made to the two Death Stars that preceded it. How does it stack up power wise and what is the actual size comparison. Luckily Alex from Star Wars Minute has dropped by the answer any and all questions! His channel posts new video’s every weekday concerning The Force Awakens, the Original Trilogy, the Prequel Trilogy, The Clones Wars TV Series, the newest series Rebels, the new line of books and comics plus things from the Expanded Universe that are now labelled Legends. Ever wanted to know how Kylo Ren got Darth Vader’s helmet? He answers that. Want to know what distinguishes a Jedi with a green lightsaber from a blue one? All over it. What about the Darth Jar Jar Binks theory doing the rounds. COVERED. His video’s are well worth checking out so be sure to head over and check them out! So a massive volcano that can puke phantom plasma that can vaporize entire systems?
-
great that fans are doing job for shitty screenwriters who are unable to think things through

Starkiller base SUCKS!!!... I know we all know it ;)
Once the energy of a star is depleted the core will collapse and create a dense neutron star which will pull the planet base into a city sized but much denser mass rendering it useless... Who needs Galen Erso.
Also on a side note - I hated the fact that there were no contrails when the star fighters were in atmosphere :/ -
Jar Jar Binks > Starkiller Base

The deathstar is so much better because you dont need a fucking sun to fire it.

Star killer base killed an otherwise great movie. It wasn't as much of a disappointment because of the almost comedic inclusion of yet another killer big ass super sized space station, what killed it for me is that they somehow thought they could get away with packing an entire star into a planet while everything went on as normal on the surface, no one considered the fact that everyone on the surface would be flattened so much that they would cease to being three dimensional, everything would flatten out into a single layer of subatomic particles because of the newly created neutron star in its core. Another thing is that if it managed to get away with that issue, they would still have the problem of being destroyed by the numerous planets that would inevitably be sucked in and collide with other planets in the systems they kill which would essentially rendering it useless from the damage they would inflict and let's not even bring up the process of being spaghettifind if you even get close to a fully loaded planet, which btw destroys anything in its way by puking star on it. In my opinion they could have made it a little more believable, hell, they could have towed the offending planet to the nearest black hole.

StarKiller BASE was the JAR JAR BINKS of this MOVIE -- (Worse than JAR JAR BINKS .. 200 million dollar movie and they couldn;t consult with a 1st year astronomy student? I have a feeling DISNEY is going to lose a lot of $$ because the epic flaws with every aspect of this rip off of the the DEATH STAR. They could have been more creative and respectful of basic laws of physics. I got angry in the theater when I saw this. I hope Disney scraps THE force awakens by making it non-canon and does a complete redo of this terrible movie .. Disney should hire people tghat actually care about the franchise who arent overpaid multi million dollar BRAND NAMES like JJ ABRAMS who could care less about basic science .. JJ ABRAMS should have never had any say in making this movie THE prequels were better

Instead of Starkiller base, they should've used a stealth / cloaking Super Star Destroyer armed with a superlaser that zipped around all the republic systems and blew them up. And we get the Republic and Resistance panicking and scrambling all their forces trying to locate the cause of all the wanton destruction.
Then it would make the search for Luke Skywalker the centerpiece of the film because while they try to use technology to find the ship, it doesn't work so well and they need the power of the Force to sense it. Leia tries but Kylo is able to mind block her (they can use this to explain also how Sidious blocks the Jedi from sensing him in the PT).
A cloaked Super Star Destroyer also sounds much more within the budget of the First Order, unlike this Starkiller base that... is ... well. Really stretching the suspension of disbelief, in terms of power, and also the logistics and possible cost of building it. -
Honestly the last half of the force awakens was disappointing, not only did Poe mercilessly come back to life but Kylo was defeated by a complete novice in the force making him seam completely unintimidating as a dark side user. Also star killer base made almost no sense I'm sure we fans can speculate and come up with some reasons to explain it eventually but come on. For one I know this video explained how Fin spotted the laser destroy the republic from that forest planet (which I don't really understand)but why were the 4 planets all right next to each other when it showed them being destroyed. On galaxy proportions that's ridicules lol. Every time I watch that part it just irritates me unless all the planets were orbiting the same STAR (also annoying when they keep calling them suns ). That also brings me to a second point once that star disappeared they would have all frozen to death not to mention being flung into space after the star was gone and with it its gravity god knows what that would do also if they some how developed some planet wide air con and the planet for some reason was able to resist the gravity of the star what did they plan to do just abandon the base after the star was gone because that seams like a waist. On top of all that the first order looked like it had most of its army on that base... maybe not I'm speculating but if that is the case then they wont have many men left. I needed to get that out there tbh its not that hard to get over most of that stuff except for Kylo being a baby but I did enjoy the movie just think the quality dipped towards the end after seeing rouge 1 it puts this movie to shame.

evil meeting...
"let's build a big round ball that can blow up planets." yeah! yeah! oh,... the rebels blew it up. hmm...
I KNOW LETS BUILD A HUUUGE BALL THAT CAN BLOW UP PLANETS.! yeah! it totally w.. oh, the rebels blew it up, shit I literally did not see that coming. what now guys?
Bro, I have the best Idea... let's get a HUUUGE massive big ball that can, (wait for it).. blow up planets!
...
YEEAA!- for Fuck's sake. guys they blew it up. ya ik right I didn see it coming either! -
you dont see that its all about the same, death star becomes starkiller, etc, they just copy the formula that people loved in the first trilogy and put it a little makeup. this new star wars sucks badly
-
This is why Star Wars is fantasy and not science fiction.
-
If you suck up the sun, there wouldn't be any gravity on the star killer base. Nor would there be an atmosphere. The whole duel between Kylo and Rey couldn't have happened. The planet would turn into a moon and would be uninhabitable
-
But One thing still is unclear to me how the fuck did they build that Base
-
this is a planet ship or planet laser
-
the starkiller base is named after Galen Merrick or known as starkiller and he so be mentioned in episode 8 an star wars rougeon

Starkiller base was lazy I think. I would have rathered Starkiller base been set up where Snoke uses it to amplify his own powers. Id imagine something abit like how Magneto stands on that platform in X-Men 1, and uses his power with Rogue.
Snoke should have used Starkiller to harness the energy of a Star, into his own body. But when the energy is used to destroy a planet, making it go supernova, the implosion process creating gigantic amounts of carbon within the core of such planets would crystallize, so the process creating in a sense Kyber Crystals. This would be what Snoke is after, in order to make himself more powerful, IF any of that makes sense.
I would have rathered that than just Snoke using Starkiller to destroy planets and system this time, samething all over again, Id have liked that he is actually seeking to gain something out of it, so he is destroying, or order to create, to gain something. Perhaps immortality through harnessing the actual energy of the Kyber crystals themselves into his own body, or something like that.
It just all felt very lazy the way Abrams set it up, too repetitive. -
The force awakens was the biggest cash grab ever and one terrible movie all rolled into one

The first thing I thought when I saw it draining the sun was: Infinite Empire confirmed. That tech looked far too much like Rattataki tech to be a coincidence. And if they DID use Rattataki tech, it would have been more practical to just rebuild the Starforge.
