How to green the world's deserts and reverse climate change | Allan Savory
wie Sie tun, machen, Film, Beispiel
"Desertification is a fancy word for land that is turning to desert," begins Allan Savory in this quietly powerful talk. And terrifyingly, it's happening to about two-thirds of the world's grasslands, accelerating climate change and causing traditional grazing societies to descend into social chaos. Savory has devoted his life to stopping it. He now believes -- and his work so far shows -- that a surprising factor can protect grasslands and even reclaim degraded land that was once desert. Well we better do it fast.
-
I'm sold!!!

Cattle farming is one of the largest contributors to climate change we have. Cattle consume more water and other recourses that any other type of food production. A before and after picture does not equate to science, Allan Savory the elephant killer is wrong once again.

Comment sections on YT always make my head hurt as if my brain cells are dying. Anyways Good video.

Climate change is a myth. Why was the hottest decade on record in the 1930's when we had very few cars on the road creating these, so called greenhouse gasses? We've barely been keeping weather records for a hundred years, and you can't come to any conclusions with this limited amount of data.
-
All the greening you saw was due to higher CO2
-
Higher CO2 mean plants grow just as well with less water and can grow in previulsy desert areas.
-
100% crap, CO2 is greening the planet his idea to reduce CO2 wouild mean milions starve, higher CO2 means higher crop yields.
-
He shot 40,000 elephants - what an idiot, he is still an idiot.
-
The is bullshit!! The planet is greening! Deserts are greening, the plant has greened 14%. We can see it from satellites.
This is a fraud! -
I find this talk really hopeful and I hope he is right. However, what about the problem of livestock producing a lot of methane? I am not an expert in the field but wouldn't that be a problem too? And referring to the last question, how do you feed cows on desert land?
Not saying I am against this in fact it seems all great but I have some doubts. Any points of view? -
Why kill 40,000 elephants what they do to you, if you love elephants so much why did you recommend kill them.
-
Great idea will share with my anthropologist colleagues. Mimic nature of Pastoral nomads

The talk in practice

At the beginning of the lecture he talks about the damage caused by over-grazing; but then at the end he advocates for over-grazing? What's the difference?
-
The author states at the end that the desserts need to be eliminated by 50% and then "after thousands of years" the carbon in the atmosphere will be back to preindustrial levels...so this would be a task that would take thousands of years, keep that in mind

to sum this up: idiot orders 40,000 elephants, realiazes he was wrong, comes up with another dumb idea, based on using animals. Non of his plans seem to involve him suffering, only innocent animals. He appears to have zero accountability. Besides, permaculture is a much better option than this bs. And it's based in engineering not just a so-called science method of trial and error.
