After reading some of the comments below, I didn't have much faith in this method actually working .... but I was wrong. It worked and I now have control over my TV again without spending a dime on a new remote.

One and two and three and...47 times......not a sausage! Then I have this other thing ( the one where you rush out and buy a new one!) "Sansai urc 501a" For which I can find no useful instructions online and have long ago lost the original instruction booklet which suggested a very long list of "codes" None of which worked....So I am up shit creek with out a paddle...

Well... I have a remote which has now started to flash the power light on and off at about 4-5 times per second...I have observed this anomaly on other occasions where the remote has been trapped under some thing and is sending a signal out continuously for hours...after some time this seems to clear up on its own - but not this time. Usually remotes stop working because dust or fluid gets onto the circuit board and a good clean up will usually get it going again....Now it does seem to be "frozen" in some kind of psychoneurotic warp - I will test this idea right now....

Hi, Very interesting. I have an Amazon Fire TV remote and box. After a few years of service I now have to hold the remote w/in 3ft of the box for them to work together. I tried fresh batteries in the remote and a hard reboot of the box. No success. Since it is working, just not at the old distance of abt 15ft I'd love to have your input. Thanks!
