How to Scan a QR Code on a BlackBerry. Works on Q10, Z10, Torch, Curve and Bold with OS 6, 7 and OS10. Hi I'm Julie and today we're going to show you how to scan a QR code on a BlackBerry in three quick steps The great thing about BlackBerry is that a QR Code reader is built into the phone - it doesn't matter what type of BlackBerry you are carrying a Q10, Z10, Curve, Bold or Torch the same steps are involved Step 1 - Find the BlackBerry App World icon I've shown a sample of what the icon looks like, the trick is you need to find it on your phone and everyone's phone is different it could be in a folder or on a different page I'm going to highlight it on our Bold here out with some flames Step 2 - Press the BlackBerry menu button The BlackBerry menu button is on the physical phone itself, it's not on the phone's screen. I'm going to highlight where it is with some flames on this phone. It's right beside the track pad and this is where you'll find it on all BlackBerrys. Once you've clicked on it you'll pull up the Option Menu. I've show sample on the screen right now. Then we go to Step 3 You need to select "Scan a Barcode" from the Option Menu. It's confusing that BlackBerry has called in a barcode and not a QR Code but it is a QR Code reader and this is what you need to click on. Click on "Scan a Barcode" I've highlighted it with some flames. Once you've done is the BlackBerry will access it's camera to focus on and scan the QR Code. The first time you do this an information window will appear, just click on "Don't show this to me again". And that's it you'll be scanning QR Codes in no time. I'm going to split the screen so we can scan a QR Code together. I've supplied you with 2 QR codes you can scan. The first one is to a First Nations Artists mobile page and the second is to our service Prestoh that allows you to create your own mobile site that comes with a free QR Code. OK right here I have a business card of an artist and his card has a QR Code on it It's the same QR code to the left of the screen right now. So we're going to scan it so I've got to pull up my BlackBerry and here we go... The first thing I want to do is find my BlackBerry App World icon which I have highlighted, so I'm going to click on it. It loads BlackBerry App World and I select the BlackBerry menu button and it pulls up the Option Menu and I'm going to click on "Scan the Barcode". OK so now this gets the QR Code in our sights and that's how quick it is - it says "Open link?" and it tells you the link that the QR Code is going to go to. I'm going to say "Yes" and now it's going to load it So that's what a QR Code is - it's a shortcut it takes you somewhere, usually to a webpage and we just went to this artist's mobile web page. Thank you
