thanks -- pretty exciting.. one question-- why do have the plug in concept ?? my company ( ib ) blocks any downloads .. I faced a similar problem with visual vm plugin .. severely handicaped.. pretty sure, I am not the only one who is having this challenge... sucks like hell to not use such exciting stuff where it matters the most

Thank you !!!

"Provide a JDK profiling and diagnostic tool platform. The overall area in which it is going to be used primarily is production use." Wow... nice doublespeak there, Sun... you must really want beginner's like me, new to programming and Java to have absolutely no idea what you are talking about... how seriously irritating.

Can you put the links from the presentation in the description? TIA

You can use JVisualVM on production servers without purchasing a Java SE Advanced license. And I did not find a way to copy a thread dump to clipboard (which is useful to send it via email to a dev colleague quickly). Besides from that, JMC supports JConsole plugins and its own plugins, so in theory someone could probably add a JVisualVM plugin wrapper as well.

Updated Java , going to try mission control tommorow :P YAY Oracle I love yoU!

I guess it's because of the legacy Oracle inherited from JRockit. I'd really like to see JMC to shine using JavaFX.

Agreed on the point about Netbeans. It is somewhat surprising considering Netbeans is Oracle's own project as well.

Hm, is this the official marketing statement…? I don't looked really deep into VisualVM but as far as I see: JMC is doing pretty much everything VisualVM does plus a bunch of other stuff. Or is there something VisualVM does that JMC cannot do? Although I would like to see JMC running within the NetBeans platform instead of Eclipse just like VisualVM does.

Complementary.

Will Java Mission Control supersede VisualVM or are the both complementary?
