Young Guru has worked with the likes of Jay Z, Beyonce, Drake, Rhianna, Rick Ross and Snoop Dogg. In this conversation at Loop 2015, he discusses how his approach to making records allows him to move fluidly between the roles of co-pilot, audio specialist, and even musician, and how today’s engineer can (and should) be so much more than a technician with good ears. Young Guru seems like the defintion of what you call a professional. I especially like how modest and down to earth he seems.

Guru's the truth! you can listen to any Roc-A-Fella song from '00 - '08 and it sounds like he mixed it yesterday. still sounds fresh & crispy.

As a Music Production student, I found this interview to be very helpful. At this point I'm learning about how to create by using Ableton. I didn't like the DAW at first because I was so used to Logic Pro X, now I'm beginning to see the difference, so let the fun begin! Thanks Young Guru! It was a great interview. I never heard of a such a great innovator until now. I feel like I'm sitting right beside him as a student being taught the art of being a better producer. I find effective criticism to be hurtful but also a opportunity to grow musically. I decided to drop out of college as a medical student to pursue my passion in music. I decided to take the initial step to learn about the basic fundamentals of perfecting the art.
