HEAT rounds don't work that way, they don't melt anything.

I believe if armour is sloped and thick the sharp pencil looking shell wouldn't penetrate

The Brits also really love to use their Squash heads, more or less a high explosive round. And I think some nations even use canister rounds, pretty much a shoot-gun round for tanks ...

RPG's I believe also use a form of HEAT projectile. if you ever see one fired from a high speed camera, there's a thin light that projects out of the back of the target when hit.

it is not heat. XD that is du (depleted uranium) sabot or apdsf. heat does not have a sabot
