Upshifts and downshifts with paddle shifters. This shows Mercedes 7GTronic Plus automatic transmission ain't slow as some people claims. Stereotype I guess. This gearbox is quite fast. You can select manual mode only however I don't see it necessary. Paddle shifters upshift and downshift are always hot ;) ready to use in each mode like Eco , Comfort , Sport + .

also in dct, paddle shift response depends on which gear is preselected, if you are using light throttle at 5th gear at 2200 rpm, the gear preselected is the 4th because the ecu expects you to downshift, if you do so it will respond in miliseconds, if you shift to 6th, the clutch has to select 6th gear then shift, getting lag in the process

well just owned a w205 with 7g tronic, and I have to say that while in auto mode and at part throttle the 7g tronic is smooth like butter like any torque converter auto, it cannot be compared to any dsg as far as shift speed is concerned. I was shocked to see the 7g literally jerking with every full throttle gear, because it tried to rev match so quickly instead of smoothing out the shift with the torque converter. Paddle reaction time was good, but still does not match my dsg7. The 7g tronic is made for easy driving, that's where it shines, compared to dsg, which is just a tiny bit harsher in city driving

why are you prematurely upshifting? You stay in the 2000-3000 revs the whole time.

Thanks for this video.
I'm looking for the same about the 7G-Tronic (not plus version), AMG version if possible -
How many gears does it have? 6 gears forward plus R or 7 gears forward plus R?
-
This has faster response than the amg mct transmission
-
Does it has rev matching during downshift?

I totally agree with you. I had a rental w205 c200 cgi yesterday and it was awesome! Personally I drive a w204 c250 also with a 7G Tronic Plus. But the difference from w204 7g tronic plus to the w205 model was huge. Especially in sport+ the w205 is nearly as fast as a dsg I felt. Sure a dual clutch is just a slightly bit faste but nothing overwhelming. Your video just represents what I felt and I miss the w205 7g today driving my w204 again :-) And I guess today they are all great gearboxes whether it is a Mercedes 7G Tronic Plus, a BMW 8 Speed or a VAG dual clutch :-)

Great video. I got a small question, if you are keeping the rpm at 2000 and you are on the last gear, what km/h will it achieve? will it do atleast 100 km/h in 2000 rpm?

You are driving a B250 or CLA250 which uses a Dual Clutch transmission. 7G Tronic refers to the generation older than what you are driving.

Slow, my DSG in auto mode shifts faster. Not complaining but it is stupid telling that classical automatic is as fast or faster than DSG,DCT, etc. It simply can't be. And even Mercedes now uses double clutch on some models.
So shut up with your lardy G Tronics :P -
I would like to know how I could keep the manual padls shift always on without it turning to D after few seconds not using the paddles.
thank you -
I have 7GTronic, and it is the first automatic I have driven where I leave it in auto the whole time. That is partly because it is great in auto-mode, but also it is because I feel that manual modes are not really manual... It seems that the car regards my selections as suggestions rather than commands. That includes both my older E-class and a brand new C-class I drove recently.
I wish manufacturers would allow a fully-manual selection in manual modes - kickdown included, Kickdown was a great idea when most autos had 3 gears, but with modern gearboxes it feels like an age whilst the gearbox decides whether it wants to shift down 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 gears.
I've driven more exotic cars with semi-auto gearboxes that don't kickdown, but in reality they have no more bhp/torque than a high-end Mercedes so it can't be a safety matter. -
Możesz oddalić kamerę by było widać łopatki zmiany biegów. Obrotomierz i tak będzie widać.

Question: what happens if you are in manual, lets say in M4 at 2000 rpm and you press gas pedal to the floor? Does it shift automatically or it stays in 4th? Thanks!
