This vehicle that I am in right now is a 2000 Mercedes Benz E320. And this particular vehicle is very clean, very nice car. And the electronic smart key. This is what Mercedes Benz calls their version of a smart key. You can see that it plugs into the dash here. You do have to plug that in there in order for the car to work. Some smart keys you don't but this one, you've got to plug it in. It operates the doors, the ignition, the trunk, the fuel filler door. And the mechanical key right here, it operates the driver's door, trunk and the glove box. To work the mechanical key, you actually move this slide down like that. And then you can pull this out at the same time. And I would do it if I had another arm to hold the camera but I do not. And then to lock it, all you do is you aim the remote at the car and then you just push the lock button right there. And whenever you do that, the lights on the outside are going to blink three times. To unlock it, its called selective unlocking. You press the unlock button right here. You press it once and it unlocks the driver's door and also the fuel filler door. If you press it twice, it unlocks all the doors, the fuel filler door and trunk. And the turn signals, they blink once. In order to reprogram it, you can actually undo the programs that people will program in. You are actually going to press the lock button here and the unlock button at the same time and you're going to hold it for 5 seconds. And it reprograms it to the opposite of its current settings. Alright. And that's kind of it as far as this is concerned. Also, if within 40 seconds of unlocking it with the remote right here, unlock, if nothing happens, the car senses that no doors are open or anything or the key is not inserted into the ignition here. The central locking switch is not activated and the vehicle is going to automatically lock again. Kind of a neat thing. Also, the trunk button. Right here, on the bottom right. In order to pop the trunk, you push and hold until the trunk lid opens. Alright, then panic alarm. Right there, see that on the end? You hold it for 1 second. Press and hold. The lights, the horn, and it will actually sound for 3 minutes. And then what you are actually going to do is press it again in order to deactivate it or you put the key in the ignition. Alright. You can also check the battery. Its called battery check lamp. It'll be a light that flashes briefly when transmitting if its ok and you can just push and that's it.
