You MUST use a mouse. Using the Nvidia gamepad or a Logitech F710 gamepad was useless. It won't go left/right properly to operate within the app. What hardware/remote works best to use as a wireless mouse?

The newer version of ES File Explorer eliminates the direct Google link. Here's what worked for me: I opened ES File Explorer, clicked on Network > Cloud > Drive, created the account on my Nvidia Shield, then uploaded the apk to Drive (specifically the Sony version of Amazon Instant Video, which is said to work better for UHD TVs). Then I accessed the apk through ES Explorer, which was still open to the Drive folder, and downloaded and installed the app. It appeared on my home screen immediately and still works without any issues.

get Google to open when I clicked on the APK website said I don't have a program that can do this any suggestions

Possible to install this on Nvidia Shield?

I was able to find and install the amazon APK. My only problem is that the app doesn't appear under my apps. I really don't want to have to go in & open amazon from the ES File Exp DM each time I want to watch Prime. Is there a way for me to make a short cut to add to my apps list?

I don't think this works anymore.

will this work on the shield k1?

hi, I have a big problem. I bought the Nividia Shield TV thinking I could install the amazon video app just like you get on android tablets for instance. but whenever I try to watch a video it crashes and this is the problem. I cant use instant video because I have horribly slow internet and streaming is impossible. I need to download to watch things and the only way to download and watch is the regular video app. is there any way I can get around this because its important.

This is a great way to get malware!

For all the people who are still searching for a (temporary) solution; I would advise you all to use the by pass which is currently developed at xda forum. Credits to the developers!

I don't see a Amazon icon on the home screen. how do I relaunch it?

This method no longer works. A prompt pops up and asks that you install Prime Instant Video. When "Continue" is selected, you are navigated to Amazon Prime app download. The installation fails and another message appears stating Amazon Prime is not compatible with your device. I am using an Nvidia Shield Android TV.

You need to remove this video - No longer works

Good Morning.
Does this still work if you use a specific version of the app or have they blocked the older versions from working now? I can't seem to find an amazon app apk that will install and play without the video app then when i do it keeps give me an "amazon video has stopped" error. Any ideas on a combination of one or both apps of a specific build/version that might still work with my Prime subscription and the Shield?
Thanks much! -
Aloha +GregglesTV it seems amazon video is not working anymore.
-
Doesnt work anymore, the amazon store app forces you to use the instant video app which crashes every time i try to play a video
-
Thanks Greg... You have been my to go to YouTuber for how to do things with devices. Thanks!
