Could someone tell me whether the part added at 58:21 was historically accurate or an artistic embellishment, as I don't remember reading that thing about a son going out to sea the same day as the great disappointment day (I assume I simply missed that part).

Also, I realize much must be abbreviated and shortened for this movie, but the rendition of the Bates letter story, seems confusing to me, particularly at 1:42:13 where I don't think Bates said those words (shortening vs artistic license).

Now please correct me if I am wrong, because I am honestly a bit confused right now.

if one were to read the scriptures in context it becomes very easy to see that when Christ instituted the church, he did so making it an authoritative body of truth, that is overseen and preserved by bishops of the church, of which Cephas, was bishop of the bishops from the 1st century.  As converts heard the gospel from the Church authoritative  body and repented, they submitted humbly themselves to the bishops (overseers) of the church.  The bishops were and are rulers of the body of Christ.  The scriptures explicitly command the church members to obey the rulers of the church. Heb. 13 vs 17 *Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves :  A beautiful example of the authoritative voice of Christ in the body of Christ in the doctrinal decision of Acts 15 by the bishops and apostles of the Church.  It resulted in the “ decree ” given by the bishops of the Church to the members of the church “ to keep ” And, just as then, so today the Sabbath keepers rebelled against the church and were condemned.  Moreover, the Apostle Paul by the mouth of the Holy Spirit wrote that divisions of the church and heresies are condemned and anyone who invents and spreads one will burn in hell.  Unless, they are infallible, they dare not do such things! Galatians 5 vs 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  The Adventist Church is full of everyoneof these works of the flesh!The gospel was to be preached in among all nations by the Church and all nations are commanded to obey the gospel as given to them by the church.  Conversion to Christ is as much submission to the will of Christ (all of it) as it is the belief in Christ.  It is impossible to have or to know the fullness of the “personal relationship with Christ” without having a personal relationship with his body (the Church) as the scripture teaches in the Epistle of Ephesians:1: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to THE CHURCH, Ephesians1: 23 WHICH IS HIS BODY, the fulness of HIM  that filleth all in all.1:  24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for HIS BODY'S sake, WHICH IS THE CHURCH: Colossian
Eph. 4: 4 THERE IS ONE BODY*The problem for most people is they want to have a relationship with Christ *on their terms, not Christ’s terms.   So, rather than fully submitting themselves to Christ fully, they hold back and do as they wish, rather than as Christ wishes.   Christ makes it clear that those who do not fully submit to him in all things, will have no part in the kingdom of God. 
 Now, what does Christ command us to do? Both to believe on him, to hear and obey the Church and to Love one another (the members of the Church) as Christ loves the church.

24  And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And so it is my friend, that the if we wish to truly know we are “In Christ” , that we are to obey the Church to love all its members, those in authority, those who serve and every one in the body of Christ, the church.  Therein is the love of God perfected in us and we know we are in Christ.  WHY DON’T I TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE SABBATH KEEPERS?The truth of the matter is that I do understand the Sabbath keepers.  They are an evil lot, very much like the Sabbath keepers that Christ himself preached to and they murdered Christ and the Apostles after him.   Christ used very strong words to warn them to repent, but they only hated Christ and the apostles, the more.  Nonetheless, Christ and the Apostles continued to warn them that a few might repent.  And so it was written by the Holy Spirit and spoken by the Just One, Jesus Christ himself:MT 13:  14 And IN THEM is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:13: 15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.Christ did not call us to settle all the insane doctrinal controversies of the word.  He called us to worship him and to love and serve him in the body of Christ.

I've watched the movie and enjoyed it very much. I see comments on here regarding the catholic church as the one true church? As a athiest and lover of history, there is absolutely no way the catholic church is christian? This church has throughout recorded history ordered the murder off christians in there millions because they would not submit to the papacy. This recorded history is in secular and christian written history and even the popes have admitted to mass genocide with a very hollow apology.
