SSHD is the future, and Seagate's implementation might not be what ends up being the most popular, but it's definitely cheaper than pure SSD, and it definitely performs much better than a plain mechanical drive Sponsor link: http://corsair.com/vengeancegaming Join our community forum: http://bit.ly/ZkLvE7 https://twitter.com/linustech http://www.facebook.com/LinusTech Pricing & availability: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/56778-seagate-sshd-hybrid-drive-where-to-buy/ Intro Screen Music Credit: Adhesive Wombat - Check out his channel here: http://youtube.com/adhesivewombat Outtro Screen Music Credit: Approaching Nirvana - Sugar High http://www.youtube.com/approachingnirvana

Does it come with cables?

What will happen if we open a SSHD ??

sshd is the future?
what about in another year or two when a 1 tb sata III ssd can be had for $100?. yea ssd's only have a set amount of reads, but once you get to large drive sizes like that, it will take even a power user many years to go over the minimum write fail number which by then will likely be even higher than now. -
I have one of these, but my WD Velocity Raptor 10K HDD is 50% faster. I was really disappointed with it. So I use my 1TB Raptor as my storage drive and I have a 256 GB SSD as my boot drive. This combo works well for me.

I am thinking of getting an SSHD for my custom build computer to replace my year old Western Digital 1TB HDD. Sometimes the hard drive makes weird noise when I place something on top of my computer like objects and my plate with food (don't think this is a great idea). I was also thinking if SSHDs are better for video editing because I still have Sony Movie Studio 13 on my computer.

i think the camera man has had too much coffee

So i am using a Seagate barracuda 1TB right now and i have used it for 5 years and is pretty much dead, if i get a SSHD will it run better and longer for gaming only? i know it will but i just want to know if there is anything i should be aware of before purchasing

Is it okay to get a SSD and an SSHD?
-
There is a 4 TB one 5900rpm
-
decided to get this SSHD instead of buying a seprate ssd and HDD so it will save me the hassle of moving files from one to another!
-
Just got a 2tb Version for 50€ Great Perfomance
-
My nose it too big LOL. Good video. Thinking of going SSD in my all in one i use @ work

*Fails

what is on your head......

actually just bought a 2tb one because honestly for the price i couldn't pass it up for my new build. now i don't have to worry about dual drive set up anymore cept for my external back up

apart from the 2.5 solutions for laptops etc. makes sense to use one of these. Was going to get a 4TB WD SSHD for a steam box, which would be filled up with film, tv and music and steam games. It would of being ideal, decided NOT too because it all seems to good to be true. Never trust ssds for mass storage of large volume writes, instead the SSHD will write to the flashes cache to read quicker commonly used files. Which like any flash will die quick, so its actaully engineered to write doom itself.
Instead i went with WD highest end desktop drives, Western Digital WD Black WD4003FZEX 4TB which cost alot more and which btw is WD's highest rated desktop drive, 5 year warranty.
I mean really, if SSHD are so great why haven't they caught on as the norm for large storage and quickest speed for a drive? It has less than 10% of the drive market, its rated to last 300,000 write cycles the warranty is 2-3 years it would not last longer than mechanical drives - valued Seagate Barracuda or wd blue drives.
Which i own alot of and they work perfectly.
Until SLC ssds are cheaper most of the technology is impratical -
why not try 2x sshds in raid 0 to see how performance scales? haven't seen many videos on it

its like a hdd bug its working faster right?
