You forgot an important thing : in countries like Canada, Netherlands or Belgium (there are quite a few I might add), there are over 5 parties and instead of a National Popular FPTP vote, we elect deputies in individual constituencies and over 50% of seats means a majority government. But that is not always the case : If let's say Gorilla wins 5%, Turtle wins 10%, Tiger wins 10%, Lion wins 35% and Crocodile wins 40%, nobody has a majority and two things can happen : First, a second election is held with Lion and Tiger which leads to a two part system vote OR Crocodile has to try to form a coalition government with the other parties. And one thing that could happen is that Lion is able to agree with Turtle and Tiger to work together and they form a majority government EVEN THOUGH they didn't win the election! I hope that you could go more in depth with the specifics of FPTP because it does have its advantages.

What I learned from this video is a type of voting and how it came about. This type of voting came from a monarchy. They had two rules 1. one vote per citizen 2.most votes win. This was call "First Past the Post or Winner take All". You would think this was simple and fair but , it wasn't problems were caused because of it . For say, mostly minority won and it created a two party system. For example , lets says we had three candidate in the final of the election . We have Bernie, Hillary and Trump. Meaning we would have 2 democrats and republicans. The democrat party would be split causing the Trump to win the most of the votes.

Justin Trudeau needs to watch this

Saying 3rd party voting is useless is myopic. Yes in the short term it can damage who actually gets elected but in the long term it can create a new duopoly. not that it's good but better

Shout outs to Canada w/ the major flop.

Is this what happened in the US? Honest question
-
Is there any real world examples where problem 2 (the unavoidable two party system ) actually happened? Or is it just speculation?

1:30 How could she win with 5% of the vote if there were 20 candidates? Do the math. With 5% and 20 candidates you can only have a 20 way tie at best.

This is a systemic problem with representative democracy, not a problem specific to the US voting system. For instance Sweden has 8 political parties in the parliament. Since no one even comes close to a 50%+ majority the parties have formed two voting blocks, a left of center bloc and a right of center bloc. Both blocs have decided to work together to effectively block the Sweden Democrats out of power despite being the third largest party as of the 2014 election.

Please post a version with all 5 videos together. I've been trying to spread the word but people seems to only be watching the first video.
