just touch the shaft...

Maybe fix the text towards the end. Tesla did not invent alternating current. Duchenne was using AC for electroshock therapy before Tesla was even born. Tesla improved upon it greatly but AC was created, know, and in use before Tesla came into this world.

I don't disagree with the principle, but the thing is you were only able to achieve those rpms based on the air pressure you applied. suppose you put this in the real world, let's say connected to a generator coil, where would you get such air pressure, to rotate a 10 hp generator 3,000 rpm to produce 120 v, without any electrical aid? Because if you need a 50hp 30Amp 277v three phase air compressor to make it drive a small generator to power two light bulbs then it's useless, right?

soo00 basically... this is just a really powerful bed side box fan for deaf people ? to knock down the humidity

You have to remember that Tesla build/designed the first hydro-electric dam in Nyagra Falls. There he used a simple Francis turbine, basically a wind mill getting hit by a stream of water. I imagine the bearings on that windmill type Francis generator heated up and where quite hard to maintain.
Tesla then "skipped" over what we use today for turbines, which is basically the same as a jet engine turbine, called a continuous reaction turbine. Which still needed bearings on the outer race.
Here with this Turbine design the plates are held in place by the medium, floating with out the need for bearings! So its not just that you greatly reduce friction losses thus improving performance you also don't need to shut the dam down for major turbine rebuilds.
Can't wait till some company gets the balls to test the boundaries of current tech and install this style generator on a modern hydro-electric facility. -

Systematic studies by Warren Rice of Arizona State University attested an expected efficiency in the range of 40-60%, with an upper limit of 65%. -
...it doesn't run without air being pumped into it...so what's it's practical application? Also can you use water instead of air to run this turbine?
-
at what rpm would this explode?
-
Truly incredible.
-
Do these turbines scale up and are they used commercially anywhere?
-
why is it so hard to find a tesla turbine under load?
Just a bunch of time wasters clocking rpm alone as if that means anything. -
what happens when this is put under load tho
-
publish screenshots than a video of screenshots

He was asked what was his favorite invention favorite and greatest are rarely the same.

i know i'm late but, couldn't you make an electric car that ran on the tesla turbine and an air machine?

Hey YTEngineer. What setup were you running to introduce the compressed air to the turbine? What PSI? Tube size? Thanks.
-
thanks for sharing (Tesla), respect!
-
And the use for the tesla turbine is..............what? A spinning disk?........

Holy FUCK that's fast @.@
