hey, destin, I have a problem. every video of your channel are very nice. You take us to the deep of the theory step by step like by making questions but you don't tell the final hypothesis after the video. I think it would be better to understand if you did that. Thanks for reading
You need a show on the Science Channel. Right now, the Science Channel is 'science for idiots'. They barely get above grade school level science. You could take their channel to much higher level. (You've got the personality for it, as well.)

OK, you need to rename your series to "poorer every day", because every time I watch one of these videos, I want to go out and buy high speed cameras and other equipment! And yes, the space bubble was very cool.
I always thought it was because the water droplets were a different temperature, making the water density just enough different that the water would bead, until the temps equalized. just a guess. but the same (beading) thing happens with oil and other fluids as well.
There is a phenomenon in Ancient China similar to these when the Princess wanted to wash their face they won't just splash it on face but they use a container which works on the principal of resonance to push the water upward or off gravity for a while and enough to wash the face. The container have to handles that needed to rub and this would create an effect of boiling water

How come Don and NASA didn't have a phantom equivalent camera?
at the speaker scene you have the speaker only half full and the water drifts to the side but if you fill it up over the rim, which is doable you would get water drops floating in the center only and that's because its the highest point on the liquids form

I can be wrong but I remember I got an explanation about this at elementary schools... O_o
Nice video and Don Pettit, what a guy, but I'm left feeling a bit unsatisfied with the proposed 'answer'.
Sure an air gap, but vibration and surface waves and a fancy equation? A ceramic urinal doesn't vibrate and I see this effect all the time, the droplets of urine fly around for a good few seconds. I'm feeling... in need of a better explanation. There's got to be more to it.
Collisional Kinetic energy might help understand how a drop survives, but what explains why or if a drop skates across a flat non vibrating surface?
How are you so easily satisfied with a fancy equation. Too much is left unexplained for me.

Water does things that we don't comprehend. This is what it does when you play cello to it in space! Think of all it has accomplished here on Earth. Just imagine what it is doing out there in the multiverse.
