Windows Update for Vista was busy for over an hour; I got impatient (read: sick) of it, so I killed it.
So, I have an ISO for Windows Vista. How do I know exactly which updates are in that ISO? -
A computer guy that actually knows something, and isn't faking it. I run in to so many quacks...
I was doing it fine...but I wanted to watch and see if you did anything differently. I also love this program...lately Windows update has "broke" on so many computers I maintain...I don't even troubleshoot anymore, I just use this method. Although, afterwards, when everything is current, The defaul WU usually comes back to functioning properly...so, more than one benefit. You get the updates, but often it will also fix a broken windows update system on Windows 7. -
You left out an important step at the end! After it downloads files for ages and you run the Updater and it finishes and reboots then what do you do, run the updater again? How do you know when it's finished?

Is it possible to slipstream all the updates generated by WSUS Offline Updater back into the original media so they are done at the time of install?

I have question. I updated Windows Vista using this program. But at the end just about two seconds before another system rebooting, my antivirus flashed a message that he has blocked an attempt to modify the registry (i guess). More i coudn't read. After restarting the system WSUS not start anymore and not flashed any massage (for exaple: The update was successful). Does it mean that the system has been updated or the antivirus blocked some important operation?

my windows update is stuck so i used this method and it says : listing ids of missing updates, but its there for hours :( how much time should i wait ? or is it broken too ?

Question: How do we update the updates? Say you run this in June, it downloads the lot and we save the 2gig lot to a share, then, later in December, if we run the generator again, will it append the new bits since june, or do we have to re-download the whole she-bang?

Hope this works for a tablet i just bought. It refuses to find any updates. It literally just checks for updates FOREVER. At my wits end here cause without these updates the tablet will not download any app from the Windows store.

'Error: Medium neither supports your Windows nor your Office version' :<<

Is there a way to download all the updates once and then deploy to multiple computers on the network automatically?

thanks a ton Eli, I wish I had known about this years ago! recently as you likely know, windows 7 hangs when you try to update it. so it was this searching which lead me to this tool and eventually your youtube page again :) just wanted to say thanks.

I am curious as to why the update for two different OS been bundled together ! For example in the newer version of this software the "Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012R" are bundled together ! Any ideas ??

Thank you Eli.

I was totally doing this wrong and thought the program was broken. Thanks Eli, you have saved me SO much time and effort.

It definitely worked!

Invaluable tool. I just built a virtual machine in Virtualbox on a Linux host OS. Winblows updates was chewing up 100% CPU for hours and hours with nothing to show for it so I bailed out of it and sought this off line solution. Thanks for this tutorial. But seriously, "No idea why [macrosuck] hasn't put it out"? LOL! That's funny.

I would like to set this up in a shop, how do you download all updates then get each client to access that update folder?

I've run this program and after it installed a bunch of updates successfully, and after rebooting the machine several times, I'm now getting a line that reads "Listing ids of missing updates (please be patient, this will take a while)..." This message has been sitting like this for 2 hours now. Is this normal? I have read that this particular message can remain on the screen for up to 3 hours but I figured I'd ask since you seem pretty knowledgeable about the program. What exactly is it doing during this process? Is it comparing updates that the machine currently has with updates that the machine needs to receive? Should I just let it sit and (hopefully) it will finish doing whatever it's doing? Note the machine is NOT connected to the Internet. Thanks!
