I took my VW Golf 6 to the garage because of trouble with the 7 speed direct-shift gearbox. They replaced the transmission fluid. On the next morning the transmission failed completely, rendering the car immobile. Diagnostic data has been transferred to Volkswagen and they decided the "mechatronics" has to be replaced. Done that, it was fine again. Für die deutschsprachigen Leser: Ich brachte meinen Golf 6 wegen eines Problems mit dem 7-Gang-DSG zur Werkstatt. Sie wechselten das Getriebeöl. Am Tag darauf ist das Getriebe komplett ausgefallen, der Wagen war nicht mehr fahrbereit. Der Fehlerspeicher wurde ausgelesen und an VW gesendet. Sie entschieden, dass die Mechatronik gewechselt werden muss. Das wurde erledigt, danach ging's wieder.

dont modify golfs, they are weakn beyond stock format. golf is not a toyota supra or nissan gtr...

mate, u shift way too fast in a DSG. DSG needs additional cares. Be patient and shift one by one and stop at N, but not D to P straight away, like D to N Then handbrake Then N to P. Cheers. Touran DSG 7speed Owner.

That's why I would never touch an automatic. The less bits that can go wrong the better.

dsg is the worst transmission ever built... they don even last 60000miles (100000km)...

i scanned my 2009 vw golf tsi DSG7, and got an error transmission code 06012 , can anyone advise me , what that could be???

There is no oil change with DSG7. Ask the dealership.

Thank goodness VAG cancelled making the 10 speed DSG, now that they are facing the Dieselgate Scandal worldwide. BMW is also facing similar scandals with their diesel engines too.

This is clearly a mechatronic/electronic fault. to solve this problem, changing the transmission fluid is idiocy. Dont let them touch your car again.

it happens olot in China。and no further response from VW after 2014. They even chg the 10ys warranty to 3ys for the 7speed dsg.

I have a dsg 7 speed on my golf 6 from 2011, but the stick it's different looking. It's smaller. I have done 100 000 km without changing the transmission fluid, should i do it? -
Such a shame that the DSG has so many problems. Really like VW cars generally (trim quality, handling etc.) but the automatic transmission problems are something that will possibly turn me into Japanese alternatives (Honda/Toyota) instead. :/
