This video will show you how to make your windows 8/8.1 PC recognise your PS/2 keyboard or mouse . When I upgraded my system to Windows 8.1 I found everything to be perfect and was very happy. However after a while my happiness eloped. The reason was my keyboard. I still have a TVS Gold PS/2 keyboard which I found out was not working after the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. Initially I thought that there is something wrong with my keyboard and wanted to buy a new one, however just before that I did some research and got to know that there is a problem with windows 8.1 with PS/2 devices. After few research I found the fix. Please find the symptoms below: 1. The keyboard will work in BIOS setting mode 2. In the device manager (devmgmt.msc) you will not see keyboard listed. Workaround: Since the keyboard is not working, you need to open the on-screen-keyboard from the ease of use menu. Resolution: 1. Open registry editor window by typing regedit in run window. 2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt,, 3. Edit the Startvalue and set it to a hex or decimal value of 1. 4. Reboot 5. Change to a PS/2 keyboard via the Keyboards section in Control Panel. 6. Also just do the driver update in this window. The final message will still say that you have the latest driver for this device, however the purpose of doing this is, it refreshes the driver and you will see the keyboard option in device manager window.
